About me

American, Holly Jean Dorger, is a Prima Ballerina with the Royal Danish Ballet.  She joined the corps de ballet after graduation at 18 years old. In 2013 she was promoted to Soloist after performing roles such as Princess Florine (Blue Bird), Gamzatti and Dew Drop. In 2016 Holly was promoted to Principal Dancer on George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations.

Holly’s first love was Scottish Highland Dancing. She competed all around the world until at the age of ten she became the United States Champion. Shortly after reaching the top level for her age she changed her focus to ballet. At age 14 she was taken on a full merit scholarship in to the prestigious year round program in New York City at the School of American Ballet. She trained there until former principal dancer of the New York City Ballet and of the Royal Danish Ballet, Nikolaj Hubbe, offered her a corps de ballet contract with the Royal Danish Ballet.

Holly’s resume continues to grow with classical ballets such as Giselle, and Swan Lake and with more recent ballet’s such as Alice in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. She was trained in the Balanchine technique so her Balanchine repertoire stays true to the style. Holly’s Gala Performances on tour include, Copenhagen, Aarhus – Denmark, New York City, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Becket (Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival)- United States, Tokyo -Japan, Beijing, Shanghai -China, Muscat -Oman, Bishkek -Kyrgyzstan, St. Petersburg -Russia, Paris -France, Budapest -Hungary, Riga -Latvia, Malmo -Sweden, Tallinn -Estonia, Minsk -Belarus and Nairobi, Kenya -Africa.

Holly received the great honor of Knighthood by becoming “Ridder af Dannebrogordenen” by Majesty Margrete, the Queen of Denmark on November 18th, 2016.

Holly is also an active Ambassador for the Opus1Foundation in Nairobi, Kenya. Holly is helping to raise money for the children in the slums by sharing the classical arts with the children and by giving charity performances.
