✨If you had told me that after lockdown I would ✨If you had told me that after lockdown I would be dancing Grand Pas and doing all the releves on my little right foot... 🦶 I probably would’ve giggled in your face. 😁 Every dancer has gone through an injury on some level at some point in their career. For me it has been twice that my right foot has been overworked to the point that I couldn’t even walk. I never really got a clear answer of what was wrong but with some fantastic help I got back each time. Out of being careful with my right foot and having sympathy towards it for having worked so hard... It became normal for me to skip some releves at the barre on the right side to make sure it stayed healthy and didn’t get overworked. In Grand Pas the girl has the infamous releve diagonal in her variation that traditionally is done on the right foot. When I started rehearsals... I honestly didn’t know if my foot could do it. Especially everyday for several weeks. 😳 So the reason why this diagonal has become something I’m very proud of is because my little foot is feeling stronger then ever. I had to build the diagonal... I was smart and spoke up to my coach @nikolajhubbe about my concerns. We created a plan to tackle the diagonal. ✨It still is a very hard sequence and of course there is always room for improvement but for me it was a triumph! My fear that my little right foot wasn’t strong is now gone! I couldn’t be happier for getting the challenge to dance Grand Pas Classique.😃 I don’t think I would’ve ever stopped doubting my little foot and now I think of him as a minutiae super hero! 👩🏻‍🎤 We all have our own little triumphs to tackle! Yea... putting on a tutu and a beautiful tiara doe Yea... putting on a tutu and a beautiful tiara doesn’t change the fact that ballet is hard and some days it’s harder than others! 🙃Before I let my mind go into a complete “you are a failure” mindset... I had to stop 🛑 my negative thoughts and tell myself... Your little right foot is working really hard and is doing great! ✨Don’t let your ambition of high legs ruin your placement and become an obsession for this diagonal. There are more important things! ✨Use this rocky moment to learn from it... Study it. Find the mistakes and breathe.... that was today. You did it yesterday and you’ll do it tomorrow! Grand Pas Classique, I’ve got a plan...here I come! 😌 ✨We all have days where things don’t quite work as we want them too. (And usually those aren’t the moments we share on social media 😉) The cloud of negativity and picking ourselves apart is where the mind often goes but that ain’t gonna help anything. I think you can tell just about how much fun I had judging on the size of my smile in these pictures! 😃I was so excited to join the wonderful community that is running @xfactortv2 for a few days with my fantastic dance partner @jonathan_chmelensky! ✨I love the costume department at @kglteater!!! ✨I love the costume department at @kglteater!!! Today I had my first fitting for Grand Pas Classique and probably what was meant to be only 15 min turned into an hour of giggles, showtime dances, catch up, OH (!!) and lots of tutu’s and bodices! ✨ I love the people that I work with! They may be behind the scenes but for me they are center stage! ♥️ Thank you for letting me be me with you any day, anytime throughout all my years at the theater.
